Otter Rock and Roll is a youth surf contest sponsored by the Newport Chapter of Surfrider Foundation held annually on International Surfing Day. Surfers 18 and under come from all over Oregon and beyond to surf with friends and family  in a fun competitive setting. This year’s event is on Saturday, June 24th at Otter Rock State Park. Not just a surfing contest, the Otter Rock and Roll provides an opportunity to impart the importance of active stewardship of our shared beaches, waves and ocean to the next generation. Plus, it’s a fun way to welcome summer.

Surfrider Newport is raising money for our activities and programs with an online auction during the event. To see the unique items up for grabs, visit our auction on BetterWorld!  Bidding will end on June 24 during Otter Rock and Roll.  Come down to beach to see some of the art in person and see if you can place the winning bid!

For those of you who have been to one of our previous surfing contests, you know that it’s all done through the effort of volunteers. If you can, please consider donating a couple of hours of your time to volunteer during our Otter Rock and Roll event.

There are plenty of different volunteer slots to fill. After clicking this link, if you see a volunteer task and time that makes you feel warm and fuzzy, please click the green arrow to sign up for that slot. You’ll not only help make this another successful event, you’ll probably get a high five or hug from other Otter Rockers (and we’ll give you a free t-shirt)!
